Play Testing KontrolFreek FPS Galaxy Grips on BF6 BFV Enlisted and UFC5

Looking for some thumb grips for the Xbox Series X to replace worn out thumbsticks and found a huge Reddit thread talking about these KontrolFreek Galaxy's.

Most people saying they really improved their gameplay on a variety of genres, FPS, RPG, sports, driving etc.

I ordered a pair of the FPS Galaxy Grips to play test them on several games including BF6, BFV, Enlisted and UFC5. Various videos for these on the YouTube channel if anyone interested. Just click the above video and view the channel bio for more details.

Four main areas where I found them especially useful -

Flying planes in Enlisted where it helps to have that extra control and grip when you shooting an enemy jet mid barrel roll or something
Sniping on Battlefield 6 and BFV when you are tracking moving target in a jeep and need that headshot
Facing a tough opponent on UFC5 when you need that precise head movement and footwork
Close quarters combat on FPS games when you need rapid and accurate right stick movement

Do Galaxy Grips Boost KD Ratio as Advertised?

On the packaging KontrolFreek claims that these FPS Galaxy Grips can increase your KD ratio by an average of 26%. Is this accurate?

Of course this stat is based on the average player, although in higher ranked lobbies you may find it has more of a significant boost.

For me the FPS Galaxy Grips made quite a difference because my controller thumbsticks were almost completely worn away. The rubber around the top of the thumbstick quickly disappears over time when you're sweating it out and button bashing away.

So just have those raised grips on the surface helps a lot and you have better control and less slipping off the thumbstick.

When you first get an Xbox Series X controller the thumbsticks are pretty good with that ridged edge. That erodes away pretty quickly though so certainly useful on older controllers, without needing to buy a new one.

How much Difference do Galaxy Grips make? Play Test Results

It's surprising how much your gameplay is affected by your controller. If your thumb is slipping about on those sweaty sessions you'll miss the shot on Battlefield, fall out of a tight turn in an Enlisted plane or fail to dodge an incoming blow on UFC and get KO'd.

These grips are great if you play on crossplay against PC players as you feel like you can mix it up with them and compete with the keyboard and mouse gang.

They just pop on over the top of the thumbsticks and suddenly you're nailing headshots and performing crazy moves you didn't think possible.

How do they actually work?

Apart from giving you those nobbly grips that are game changers in themselves - you get a precise control on the thumbstick rather than a vague input - there also seems to be a benefit from the additional height.

The product I tested, the FPS Galaxy Grips - came in a mixed pack with one high rise and one mid rise. Even the mid rise grips give an extra range of movement being higher up, so you get more accuracy for shooting games or flight sims.

They are great for both long range sniping and up close CQB combat when you need to bust in a door and suddenly shift your view to a different angle and blast someone. For example on the above video you can see me take out 2 targets at long range with an SMG, then easily track a guy trying to bunny hop in front of my face.

Normally that catches me out, quite embarrassingly, but with the KontrolFreek grips on I just tracked his movement and popped him with the pistol.
